Kooma, Promo, Tampere

"Magneetti" had an electro club at Tampere where I got to play one night with DJ DCOM.

dUb-käännös, Pikku-Torre, Turku

Kääntö Records has this dub-club in Turku.

I warmly recommend it to any artist -- they give you great food and despite the place being pretty small there were lots of dancing people.

Electronic Therapy, Päiväkoti, Turku

X0X Records has this long-running electronic music club called Electronic Therapy at bar Päiväkoti in Turku.

I brought my Commodore 64 and played a couple of records after that as well.

SELFWARE. politics of identity - games, Palais Thienfeld, Graz, Austria

Selfware was this pretty big happening with fashion shows and graphics and games. I had met DJ Glow at a games conference in Tampere, and so I got to go to one of their game developer conferences to play.

I had the same airplane-friendly Commodore 64 and Gameboy Advance set with me as in Canada. Graz was a really nice place to visit, an old city with castles and things, but at the same time very technologically advanced. It was an European Cultural Capital at the time and contemporary arts were all over the place.

I was interviewed for a modern German Commodore 64 disk mag called Lotek64.

PixelACHE, Society for Arts and Technology, Montreal, Canada

PixelACHE is an annual art exhibition that mostly takes place in Kiasma, Helsinki, but also goes on tour around the world sometimes.

I got the rare opportunity to join them at the Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal, Canada. I played the Commodore 64 and Amiga MODs from the Gameboy Advance.

At the airport they asked if I had any computers with me. So I had to dig out the Commodore 64 and they tested it for drugs! I guess businessmen snort cocaine off their laptops. Surprisingly the old breadbox came out clean, despite all the evil techno rave parties it has gone to.

Rikos Records meets Au Right, Ilokivi, Jyväskylä

This evening was part of the Yläkaupungin Yö festival.

I played a mixed set, some tunes from the Commodore 64 and some records. I think Dr.Robotnik was probably also playing records there, and then there were the Au-Right DJ's who played disco funky groovy stuff. It worked pretty well with our electro disco retro music and it was definitely crowded in there.

The main characters of Rikos Records weren't too happy about the title of the happening because they had nothing to do with organizing it. :-)

NUCCC, Smökki, Espoo

The Nordic University Computer Club Conference is an annual happening that takes place in different Nordic countries.

In 2003 it was at the Helsinki University of Technology, and I got to play the Commodore 64 at the evening dinner after the event.
