Gameworld, Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki

Gameworld is a computer game fair held at Kaapelitehdas.

Vesuri and VTM of dA JoRMaS played some trance there on the previous day.

We were invited by eDome, which used to be some kind of a gaming web site. I opened the second day of the event with some Commodore 64 -music. There was one guy persistently dancing alone in front of the big speakers, getting odd looks from fathers who were escorting their children around. Everyone thought it was a friend of ours, but nope...

The hostess of the event, Jaana Pelkonen, signed her name on my C=64.

Lakinlaskijaiset, Dipoli, Espoo

This is some kind of annual student happening at the Helsinki University of Technology.

I got the chance to play the Commodore 64 at the "techno stage" provided by Entropy. A pretty good number of drunken students in overalls were dancing. "First Blood" had just come out the vinyl factory, I remember selling those to people. Now I wish I had kept a few. :-)

The band called Kemopetrol played on the big stage.

Kaaos, A-Sali, Jyväskylä

Niitty had this thing going with the city of Jyväskylä that they would arrange a fairly big techno event at the same time as the annual Jyväskylä Arts Festival.

I got this chance to play a small 20-minute set with my Commodore 64 at the entrance lounge. The feeling was pretty intense, the lounge was packed with people who danced through the whole thing and they seemed to be enjoying it!

Jeff Mills was pretty unforgettable on the bigger stage, which was also packed full of people, and the sweat in the air would condense into clouds near the ceiling and come down as refreshing rain.

2 Alternative Party

The Alternative Party is a computer arts happening with a focus on older computers. I think this time it was in Helsinki for the first time, in a downtown underground lair called Domus Academica.

I was invited over to play a set with my Commodore 64. People stood and stared in amazement.

The website for this particular AltParty is still online.
